Welcome to the Button Shy Games Wiki![]

This is a fan-curated collection of information about Button Shy and its games.

If you haven't heard of Button Shy...[]

We're a family-run small press game company that specializes in pocket-sized wallet games.

All games are hand-assembled, and aside from a small but growing group of retail partners, most games are sold directly to our customers.  This allows us to form a more personal relationship with those who are responsible for our success.

Wallet Games[]

These are pocket-sized games (generally 18 cards or less) and they come packaged in a bi-fold wallet. They are both portable and durable, and make for great games to have on the go. A new wallet game is released every month, and every single one is is hand assembled. Most are Kickstarted, while others see release through the Board Game of the Month Club on Patreon.

Wallet RPGs[]

In 2022, Button Shy introduced an RPG line, to focus on role-playing experiences in the 18-card wallet format. These wallets are also released on Kickstarter and the Board Game of the Month Club in a similar fashion to other wallet games. The design of the RPG line is distinct in that the wallet art is presented in portrait as opposed to landscape. Club members who upgrade to an RPG tier spread the cost of these wallets over two payments, and receive a new RPG every other month.

Non-Wallet Games[]

In addition to wallet games, the Board Game of the Month Club also creates opportunities for other compact games -- from games that fit on a postcard, to single-page roll-and-writes, to three- or nine-card micro games, to games that are so big that they see release incrementally over the course of a year. These do not see release on Kickstarter, but are frequently available as online Print-and-Plays. Other non-wallet titles include Button Shy's Storyteller Cards as well as several game books released by The Spiel Press.
